After you make your first appointment with Havens Family Dental, you may have some questions about how it will go. If you haven't been with us before, or if it's been a while since your last dentist visit, we can go over what you can expect to relieve any stress or anxiety you might have.

We know that not knowing what to expect can make patients less confident about the process, and we want our patients to feel informed and knowledgable about their oral health.

What Does My First Visit Look Like?

Most patients schedule a dental cleaning for their first appointment unless you have a dental emergency or cosmetic treatment, like teeth whitening. For regular dental cleanings, your first visit with us will be with the hygienist. Regular dental cleanings will include x-rays and an oral examination by the dentist.

If you have a same-day emergency, the dentist will see you immediately and will perform an oral examination and take x-rays as needed. Once we have relieved your pain and addressed your emergency, we always offer same-day dental cleanings.

Do You Offer Any Amenities?

For your entertainment and relaxation, we offer full accommodations, including TVs on the walls and ceilings in every room so our patients can enjoy their favorite movies. We offer a fully stocked coffee and tea bar, along with fresh fruit and warm cookies. Our patients can fully unwind with our luxury massage chairs, fluffy neck pillows, and cozy blankets. We also provide complimentary nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for our patients with anxiety.

For our most precious patients, we provide a special children's play area that will keep them entertained with books, toys, gaming station, and cartoons. We love surprising kids by having them explore our special treasure chest and picking out their new toothbrush.

Do I Need to Bring Anything?

The following items will help our dental staff complete your insurance information forms, maintain a dental record history, and begin a medical log for your patient records. If you have any of the following items, please feel free to bring them:

  1. If you have dental insurance, please provide your insurance card.
  2. Please bring any x-rays or history of dental records that have been completed by another dentist. Before your appointment, please call the other dentist to request that your x-rays and records be sent to us directly.
  3. If you are taking any medications, please let us know what kind and your dosage.
  4. If you have any medical conditions, please let us know.
  5. If you are allergic to any medications or substances, please let us know.

Are You Involved in Our Community?

We are involved in our local community and plan on growing with it. We happily contribute to several of our regional teams and organizations with the district. We feel strongly that preventative care is essential, which is why we go to your schools to provide dental education to our community children. We love demonstrating proper oral habits and how to brush and floss properly.
