Dear Patients, Friends, and Family:

In response to the developing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, we want to provide you with our current plan of action to help keep our patients, team, and community as safe and healthy as possible. We say "current" because we will alter these plans if we discover that the American Dental Association, CDC, Ohio Department of Health or Franklin County Health Department adds any additional guidelines than what we plan to self-impose until this situation is behind us.

We do not believe this is time for panic, but we do feel it is time for increased vigilance, screening, and precautions. Havens Family Dental uses universal precautions to eliminate transmission of any pathogens (bacteria or viruses) through best practices infection control practices EVERY day with EVERY patient. The differences you will see at our practice in the coming weeks and months if necessary will be vigilant infection control protocol extended outside of the patient care area.

This includes:

Screening of staff and patients for any illness. Patients and our team must not come to the office if presenting with any flu-like symptoms or feeling "ill". We will do our best to accommodate your schedule if you need or want to move your appointment.

We will begin taking temperatures of both patients and team members upon entry to Havens Family Dental. If you present with a fever of 99° F or higher, we will reschedule your appointment. This is meant to not only to protect our team members and patients but also the whole community including our elderly family members at home.

We will ask patients to use hand sanitizer upon entrance to the practice. We're lucky to be stocked up currently and will switch to hand washing if necessary if the pandemic continues too far into the future and the world runs out of hand sanitizer.

We will begin using our Hospital grade sanitizing spray and wipes throughout the entire office including all counter tops, restrooms, door handles, and any other hard surfaces every 30 minutes until further notice.

At Havens Family Dental we have always strived to treat our patients like family. We normally like to introduce ourselves with a handshake or high five, but we will be stopping all handshakes, high fives, and fist bumps and replacing them with peace signs and air fist bumps during this period as well.

We love our patients and team here at Havens Family Dental and will strive to do what is right in the face of adversity. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. You can reach us at 614-762-2737 or via email at [email protected]

Thank you,

Dr. Kyle Hickman and the entire Havens Family Dental Team
